What Work Was Done?
This Belleville roof replacement involved installing a complete Owens Corning roofing system designed to improve the home’s protection against Michigan’s weather while enhancing curb appeal with Owens Corning Duration® Lifetime Architectural Shingles in Black Sable.
Rather than replacing only the shingles, the project included new underlayment, upgraded leak protection, improved attic ventilation, replacement roof accessories, and new flashing components to create a complete roofing system built for long-term performance.
Complete Roof Replacement Completed
The new roofing system included:
- Owens Corning Duration® Lifetime Architectural Shingles in Black Sable
- SureNail® Technology for enhanced fastening performance
- 130 MPH wind warranty
- ProArmor® synthetic underlayment
- Advanced Weather Protection Package
- An ice and water barrier is installed at eaves, valleys, and roof penetrations
- Designer starter shingles along all eaves and rake edges
- New aluminum drip edge in Black
- New plumbing vent boots
- Two new bathroom vents
- New aluminum counterflashing and roof flashing components
Together, these materials provide multiple layers of protection against wind, rain, snow, and ice common throughout Southeast Michigan.
Ventilation & Weather Protection
Proper attic ventilation plays an important role in extending the life of a roofing system while helping regulate attic temperatures throughout the year.
This project included:
- Owens Corning VentSure® Ridge Vent Pro continuous ridge ventilation
- Complete intake-to-exhaust ventilation system
- Ice and water barrier protection at the roof’s most vulnerable areas
- Synthetic underlayment for secondary moisture protection
These components work together to improve airflow, reduce trapped moisture, and help protect the home during Michigan’s freeze-thaw cycles.
Flashing & Roof Detail Upgrades
Many roofing leaks begin around penetrations and roof transitions rather than through the shingles themselves. As part of this replacement, critical roof details were updated with new flashing and accessories.
The project included:
- New aluminum counterflashing
- New plumbing vent boots
- Replacement bathroom roof vents
- New drip edge around the roof perimeter
Updating these components helps ensure the roofing system remains watertight while improving long-term reliability.
