What Work Was Done?
Frank first contacted RoofAdvisor in 2020 after a tree caused damage to several areas of the roof on his Redford, MI home. The damage included holes in multiple shingles, a detached brick area near the chimney, and a crushed roof vent.
Fortunately, there were no active leaks or emergency concerns at the time of the inspection. Because the roof was still in generally serviceable condition, Frank chose to move forward with targeted repairs instead of a full replacement.
Initial Roof Repairs
The original repair project included:
- Removing and replacing a damaged slant-back box vent
- Replacing surrounding damaged shingles
- Replacing damaged ridge cap shingles
- Reinforcing chimney flashing with black sealant
Matching Mint Frost green 3-tab shingles were used to help maintain the appearance of the existing roof system while restoring protection to the damaged areas.
Returning for Gutter Replacement
Several years later, RoofAdvisor was contacted again to address aging drainage components around the home.
The gutter replacement project included:
- Removing and replacing 62 linear feet of 5-inch seamless gutters
- Installing new gutter connections and downspouts
- Replacing one-story and two-story downspouts
- Installing 38 linear feet of Clean Sweep gutter guards
The upgraded gutter system was designed to improve water management and help reduce maintenance concerns caused by debris buildup.
Improved Drainage & Exterior Protection
Adding gutter guards and updated seamless gutters helps:
- Improve water flow during heavy rain
- Reduce clogging from leaves and debris
- Protect siding and foundations from overflow
- Reduce long-term gutter maintenance needs
Projects like this highlight how ongoing maintenance and phased exterior improvements can help homeowners protect and extend the life of both their roofing and drainage systems over time.
