What Work Was Done?

Jessica contacted RoofAdvisor after experiencing an intermittent roof leak that first appeared about a year earlier, then returned during a recent rainstorm. Referred by her friend Stephanie, Jessica wanted to determine the source of the leak and make sure it was properly addressed before it became a larger problem.

Following a thorough roof inspection, the cause turned out to be surprisingly simple: a single popped roofing nail located directly above the area where water had entered the home. Because the issue was isolated and easily accessible, the repair was completed immediately during the inspection appointment.

Roof Repair Completed

The repair included:

  • Locating the source of the leak
  • Identifying popped roofing nails
  • Sealing the exposed fasteners with professional-grade roofing sealant
  • Inspecting the surrounding roofing system to confirm there were no additional concerns

The repair restored the roof’s weather protection without requiring more extensive work.

Why Even Small Roof Leaks Should Be Inspected

Not every roof leak is caused by widespread roof damage. In many cases, a small issue, such as an exposed fastener, deteriorated sealant, or a minor flashing defect, can allow water to enter under the right weather conditions.

Problems like these can often be repaired quickly when identified early, helping homeowners avoid:

  • Interior water damage
  • Roof deck deterioration
  • Mold or moisture issues
  • Larger, more expensive repairs later

Jessica’s roof was otherwise in excellent condition, making a simple repair the right solution.

A Roof With Years of Life Remaining

During the inspection, RoofAdvisor confirmed that the roof remained in very good overall condition. The home’s ventilation system had previously been upgraded with vented drip edge intake ventilation, helping improve attic airflow and long-term roof performance.

Rather than recommending unnecessary work, the inspection confirmed that the roof still had many years of service life remaining. Addressing the isolated nail pop was all that was needed to resolve the leak and restore peace of mind.

Honest Recommendations Build Long-Term Relationships

One of RoofAdvisor’s core principles is recommending only the work a roof actually needs. In Jessica’s case, that meant completing a small repair on the spot instead of suggesting unnecessary repairs or replacement.

The immediate repair, thorough inspection, and honest assessment left Jessica and her husband extremely satisfied, resulting in a five-star review and the confidence that they have a trusted roofing contractor whenever they need one.
