Roof Replacement in Brownstown, MI 48183
After first repairing Frank’s Brownstown roof in 2016, RoofAdvisor returned years later to help replace the aging roofing system after wind damage and attic ventilation issues revealed larger long-term concerns. The completed project included GAF Timberline HDZ shingles, ventilation upgrades, decking repairs, and improved moisture protection.
This is a fantastic service. I contacted RoofAdvisors due to needing my roof inspected to complete a refinance. I also had some concerns with the roof and thought it needed to be replaced. RoofAdvisors sent out Chris Erwin who is just a pleasure to work with. Well dressed, well spoken, no hassle and zero pressure. Chris inspected the roof inside and out. He took detailed pictures and created a report on the spot and went over it with me at my kitchen table. He told me I absolutely do not need a new roof and that it had at least 5 years left on it. He went over the concerning area's and we worked out a fantastic price for repair. When it comes time that this roof does need to be replaced I will give RoofAdvisors a call first. I have already sent more business their way after raving about them at work. The cost to have your roof inspected is well worth the peace of mind.
Thank you for your incredibly kind words! It was our pleasure to inspect your roof and to speak with you about the results of our in-depth analysis. We loved being able to deliver the good news that your roof did not need to be replaced.

Storm Damage Roofing Projects Across Southeast Michigan
Storm damage roofing projects across Southeast Michigan often begin suddenly. High winds, hail, falling branches, and severe summer storms can damage a roof in a matter of minutes, even when the problems are not immediately visible from the ground.
Some projects involve isolated repairs after a wind event. Others uncover widespread damage that leads to full roof replacement through an insurance claim. In many cases, the condition of the roof before the storm plays a major role in determining whether repair is still practical or whether replacement becomes the better long-term solution.
The projects documented here reflect the full range of storm-related roofing work completed across Southeast Michigan communities.
What These Storm Damage Roofing Projects Have in Common
Wind damage is the most common cause of storm-related roofing problems throughout Southeast Michigan.
Strong spring and summer storms frequently produce gusts powerful enough to:
- Lift shingles
- Break adhesive seal strips
- Remove ridge caps
- Damage flashing
- Expose the roof decking
- Create hidden leak paths
In many cases, shingles may appear intact from the ground even though the seal beneath them has already failed.
Hail damage is another major issue across the region. Hail impacts can:
- Knock granules loose
- Crack shingles
- Damage flashing and vents
- Shorten the roof’s lifespan
- Create long-term leak risks
Because hail damage is often difficult to see from the ground, inspections usually focus on both the roofing system and surrounding soft metals, such as gutters, vent covers, flashing, and AC components.
Tree and debris damage also becomes common during severe weather events, especially in neighborhoods with mature tree coverage. These projects may involve:
- Punctured decking
- Broken rafters or sheathing
- Crushed roof sections
- Emergency tarping
- Structural repairs beyond the roofing system itself
Many storm damage projects also involve the insurance claim process. Documentation, inspections, adjuster meetings, and scope review often become part of the project timeline before roofing work begins.
How Storm Damage Varies by Home and Location
Storm damage affects different homes and communities in very different ways.
Older homes in cities like Redford, Livonia, Westland, and portions of Sterling Heights are often more vulnerable to wind damage because aging shingles become brittle and lose flexibility over time. Roofs already nearing the end of their lifespan may suffer major functional damage during storms, whereas newer roofs may experience only limited problems.
Larger colonial homes in Novi, Canton, Northville, and Milford often experience storm-related damage around:
- Valleys
- Ridge caps
- Steeper roof sections
- Garage roof transitions
- Skylights
- Complex flashing areas
Communities with heavy tree coverage, including Plymouth, Ann Arbor, Royal Oak, Ferndale, and parts of Milford, frequently see:
- Branch impact damage
- Debris accumulation
- Crushed gutters
- Punctures from falling limbs
- Combined wind and tree-related damage
Hail damage is especially localized throughout Southeast Michigan. One subdivision may experience significant roof damage while neighborhoods only a few miles away show little to no impact. Because of this, inspections remain the most reliable way to confirm whether a specific roof was affected after a storm event.
The city filter above lets you compare storm-damage roofing projects completed in communities similar to yours.
What to Consider With Storm Damage Roofing Projects
Storm-damage roofing projects often proceed differently from standard repairs or planned replacements because they involve both emergency conditions and insurance-related timelines.
Many projects involve:
- Storm inspections
- Insurance documentation
- Temporary leak protection
- Wind and hail damage assessment
- Flashing and ventilation evaluation
- Decking repairs
- Full roof replacement planning
- Adjuster coordination
- Emergency tarp services
- Long-term moisture prevention
Because storm damage is often more extensive than it first appears, proper inspection and documentation are critical for identifying both visible and hidden roofing problems before repairs or replacement begin.
About the Reviews on This Page
Each project card links to a full project page that includes the scope of work, installed materials, warranty information (when applicable), and the homeowner’s review of the experience.
